Websites for tradespeople in Lanarkshire. £149, fixed price.
I'm Martin Bowe. I build straightforward one-to-five page websites for local trades and shops — and if you'd rather not pay for a new one, I'll tell you exactly what's wrong with the one you've already got.
I've checked 22 real local websites. Here's what I found.
I haven't got clients to show you yet, so I'm not going to invent any. What I have got is the actual scoring from 22 Lanarkshire businesses — plumbers, electricians, salons, takeaways, dentists. It's the same eleven-point check I use when I do a paid review, and it's the work itself, so you can judge me on it.
The faults I keep finding
| Fault found | Businesses affected |
|---|---|
| No meta description — Google makes one up for you | 13 of 22 |

| Weak or missing main heading | 11 of 22 |
| Images with no alt text | 10 of 22 |
| Weak page title in Google | 10 of 22 |
| No link preview when the site is shared | 7 of 22 |
| No mobile viewport set | 2 of 22 |
What you actually get
No jargon, no packages of things you don't need, and nobody phoning you at dinner time.
- 1
A site that loads fast on a phone
Most of your customers will find you on a phone. It has to work properly there, and it has to load before they give up.
- 2
One tap to call you
Your number becomes a real button, so someone who wants to book you doesn't have to write it down and type it back in. Eleven of the 22 sites I checked had this fault.
- 3
Words that make it clear what you do
Plain English about your trade and the area you cover, so customers know straight away whether to call you.
- 4
Found on Google
The right text and structure so you show up when someone nearby searches for what you do.
- 5
You keep everything
It's your site, your domain, your hosting. You can move to anyone else at any time. No lock-in.
- 6
One clear price
You know the cost before we start. No hourly surprises, no scope creep halfway through.
Three ways to start, cheapest first
Most people begin with the free one. Some already know they want a new site. Both are fine.
Free — just ask
Email me your web address. That's all I need — no passwords, no logins, ever.
You get: the two biggest things costing you calls, and what to do about them. Nothing else, and no obligation.
£49 — the full written report
Everything from the free check, written down properly.
- Every fault, ranked by what it costs you
- The exact change needed for each one
- Code you can copy in yourself
- Or hand it to whoever built your site
£149 — a new website
Built for your trade and your area, fixed price.
- Up to five pages, written in plain English
- Fast on a phone, tap-to-call, found on Google
- Your domain and hosting, in your name
- One or two weeks, depending on your photos

Full written report on your existing site. No obligation — do what you like with it, including nothing.

Custom-built for your trade and your area. Mobile-friendly, fast, and yours to keep — pay nothing up front, I'll invoice you by bank transfer.
Ask for a quoteBoth prices are agreed in writing before I start anything, and there's nothing to pay up front. If you need something bigger than five pages, tell me and I'll quote it properly rather than shoehorning it in.
Sample sites I built, so you can see what you get
When I pitch, I don't send screenshots. I build a working sample of the prospect's own business and let them click round it on their phone. These are four of them — real trades, real towns, real details.
A plumber in Lanarkshire
A plumber working across Lanarkshire. Sample scored 71/100 on the real check — I built it to show the fixes.
Open the sampleAn electrician in Lanarkshire
An electrician covering Airdrie, Coatbridge and Motherwell. Sample scored 68/100 — the phone number here wasn't tappable.
Open the sampleA takeaway in Airdrie
A takeaway on the high street. Sample scored 75/100 — built around one-tap calling and a menu people can read on a phone.
Open the sampleA hair salon in Airdrie
A hair salon. Sample scored 82/100 — one of the better local sites I checked, and this is what the faults were costing.

You send your web address
That's genuinely all. No passwords, no logins, no forms to fill in.
I check it and reply myself
Usually the same working day. You'll get the two biggest problems, in plain English, and what to do about them.
You decide
Fix it yourself, hand the report to whoever built your site, get the full £49 report, or let me build you a new one. Including doing nothing.
I won't phone you unless you ask me to. Email suits me fine, and it's easier for me too.
Straight answers
Will you need my website password?
No. For the review, definitely not — I only look, I don't log in or change anything. For building a site I'd set it up with you and you keep ownership of everything.
How long does it take?
A review is usually a couple of days. A small site is generally one to two weeks, depending on how quickly I can get your photos, wording and details from you.
Do I pay anything up front?
No. The £49 report and the £149 site are both paid by bank transfer once the work is done, and I invoice you for it. Nothing to pay until you're happy with what's arrived.
I'm not technical. Is that a problem?
No, and it's most of who I work with. If you can send me some photos and tell me what you do, that's genuinely all I need. If you'd rather I just took charge of it, I can.
What if I don't want a new site?
Then the free check is the whole thing, or the £49 report if you want it in writing. A lot of the fixes are one line of text or one link — often you or whoever built your site can apply them in an afternoon. You keep the report either way.
Do you do hosting and domains?
Yes. I can set those up and manage them, or talk you through it yourself if you'd rather. Whichever way, you own it — it stays in your name and you can move it to another company whenever you like.
Have you done this before?
I haven't got client websites to show you yet, which is why I put the 22 scored checks above instead of made-up testimonials. What I have done is the checking work properly, on real local businesses, and I can show you the results. The first few builds are priced where they are because of that.
Will you phone me?
Only if you ask me to, or if you call me first. I won't cold-call anyone — my phone's on this page so a one-tap call is easy, but I use it, I don't chase people with it.
Send me your web address
I'll check it and come back to you with the two biggest things costing you customers. No charge, and I won't get in touch again if you'd rather I didn't.

Plain email is fine — honestly, it's what I'd do.

Tap to call on your mobile. It's me, not a call centre — if I'm on a roof, I'll ring you back.
Privacy — the short version
Written in plain English because you shouldn't have to hire a lawyer to read a small website's privacy note. This is the whole of it.
- What I collect: only what you type into the form above — your name, your email address, your web address, what you're interested in, and anything you write in the message box.
- Where it goes: straight into my own email inbox. This website has no database, no account system and no third-party form service. Your details are not sold, shared or passed to anyone else.
- Cookies and tracking: none at all. This site sets no cookies, runs no trackers and loads nothing from any third-party CDN. There is no cookie banner here because there is nothing to consent to.
- How long I keep it: I keep your message in my inbox for as long as we're talking, and for up to 12 months afterwards. If we never get past the first email, I delete it. I'll never add you to a mailing list or chase you.
- Your right to delete it: ask me at any time and I'll delete what I've got about you within 30 days, free, no questions. Just email airdriewebfix@gmail.com.
- Who runs this site: Martin Bowe, Bowe Web Design, trading as a sole trader in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. I'm the data controller, so there's nobody else to complain to — which also means you can just ask me.
Enquiries and quotes are handled under the UK GDPR on the basis of legitimate interests — replying to someone who asked me a question is the reason I hold their details. If you'd rather I didn't hold anything, tell me and I'll delete it.
How the form actually sends your message
Worth being straight about, because it's unusual. There is no server behind this form. Pressing the button just builds a normal email in your own email app, addressed to me, and opens it for you to press send. Nothing travels to a database in between, which is also why your details can't leak.
The flip side: if the button doesn't seem to do anything, type the message straight into your email app and send it to airdriewebfix@gmail.com. You'll get the same reply.
